THE TEACHER ON TWO WHEELS? (DOES HE REALLY EXIST???)
Let it be known that one Andrew Ward Morgan of Cherry Hill, NJ has ridden his bike from his hometown to Antofagasta, Chile in a little over a year. His trans-continental ride is a journey that will fulfill superhuman ambitions. He left around Columbus Day (beginning of October) of 2007. As of October 22nd, 2008 he has made it all the way to Antofagasta. He plans on working for passage across the Atlantic once he gets to Buenos Aires, Argentina. After arriving in Capetown, South Africa for the start of the second leg. He will ride his bike, small trailer and all, up the east coast of Africa stopping in Cairo, Egypt (Fall 2009/Winter 2010).
Throughout his travels, Drew will be/has been stopping to teach English in local communities that are in in need of native speakers. If you are a teacher, get involved and track his progress or correspond with the teach on 2 via e-mail or video. Last year, my fifth grade class at Bradford Elementary in Montclair, NJ really dug keeping track of the different cultures and types of geography he is encountering on his trip. Well folks, this guy most certainly exists. I could ramble on even more about how remarkable of a person Drew is, but you should just see for yourself @ www.teacherontwowheels.com. Join Benito’s and help sponsor the Teacher on Two Wheels!!!(Definitely the coolest guy I know!)
Update(Summer 2009): The Teach on Two has altered his trip a bit and taken a job with a humanitarian organization in Uganda. The organization is called “Invisible Children”. The main goal is to provide quality education for the children of post civil war Uganda. After a bout with malaria, the teach on two is going strong working as a coordinator for Invisible Children. Best of luck Drew!!!
